No data or personal information is collected by Transcribe.

Transcribe runs entirely on your Mac. Your transcripts, chat history, settings, and API keys are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our servers. We do not operate any servers that collect, store, or process your data.

Transcribe connects directly to third-party services using your own API keys:

TranscriptAPI.com — to fetch YouTube transcripts. Your API key is sent directly to their servers.

Your AI provider (OpenAI, Ollama, Groq, etc.) — to power AI chat features. Your API key and transcript text are sent directly to the provider you choose.

Polar.sh — for license validation only. Your license key and a hardware identifier are sent to Polar.sh to verify your license. No personal information is collected.

GitHub — to check for app updates. The app checks the public GitHub Releases API. No personal data is sent.

We have no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no cookies. If you have questions, contact support@trytranscribe.io.
