No data or personal information is collected by Transcribe.
Transcribe runs entirely on your Mac. Your transcripts, chat history, settings, and API keys are stored locally on your device and are never sent to our servers. We do not operate any servers that collect, store, or process your data.
Transcribe connects directly to third-party services using your own API keys:
TranscriptAPI.com — to fetch YouTube transcripts. Your API key is sent directly to their servers.
Your AI provider (OpenAI, Ollama, Groq, etc.) — to power AI chat features. Your API key and transcript text are sent directly to the provider you choose.
Polar.sh — for license validation only. Your license key and a hardware identifier are sent to Polar.sh to verify your license. No personal information is collected.
GitHub — to check for app updates. The app checks the public GitHub Releases API. No personal data is sent.

By downloading, installing, or using Transcribe ("the App"), you agree to these terms.
Disclaimer of Warranty. The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Transcribe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, regardless of the cause of action or theory of liability.
Third-Party Services. The App connects to third-party services (TranscriptAPI.com, AI providers, Polar.sh, GitHub) using your own credentials. The developer is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and policies.
Use at Your Own Risk. You acknowledge that you use the App at your own risk. The developer assumes no responsibility for any damages to your computer, data loss, or other harm resulting from the use of the App, including but not limited to the auto-update feature which modifies application files on your system.
No Guarantee of Accuracy. Transcripts, AI-generated summaries, and any other output produced by the App or third-party services may contain errors. The developer makes no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content generated through the App.
Changes to Terms. These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
