Installation
Requirements
- macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
- Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel Mac
- An internet connection (for fetching transcripts and AI features)
Download
Download the latest version of Transcribe from TryTranscribe.io or directly from GitHub Releases.
The download is a .dmg file (Apple Disk Image).
Install
- Open the .dmg file you downloaded.
- Drag Transcribe into your Applications folder.
- Open Transcribe from your Applications folder or Spotlight (press ⌘ + Space, type "Transcribe").
- If you see a "Transcribe is from an identified developer" dialog, click Open. The app is notarized by Apple.
Tip: Transcribe lives in your menu bar. Look for the speech bubble icon in the top-right of your screen, near the clock. There is no Dock icon by default (you can enable one in Settings).
First Launch
When you first open Transcribe:
- A 7-day free trial starts automatically. No credit card or sign-up required.
- The app appears as a small icon in your menu bar (top-right of the screen).
- Click the icon to open the popover, or right-click for quick options.
Uninstall
To uninstall Transcribe, simply drag it from your Applications folder to the Trash. Your settings and history are stored in macOS preferences and will be removed automatically.
