Library & Folders
Organize and browse your transcript collection.
Opening the Library
Right-click the menu bar icon and select "Open Library", or press Ctrl+Shift+S. The library shows all your saved transcripts in a sidebar+detail layout.
Closing the library window (clicking the red X button) hides it without quitting the app — the menu bar icon remains active. To fully quit Transcribe, use the Quit option in the menu bar right-click menu or inside Settings.
Search
The search bar searches across video titles, transcript text, URLs, video IDs, and chat messages. Results update as you type.
Sorting
Click the sort toggle to cycle between Date, Name, and Length sorting. Click again to reverse the sort direction.
Folders
Create folders to organize transcripts. Right-click in the sidebar to create a new folder. Drag transcripts into folders. Items in folders are removed from the main library list. You can remove items from folders via the right-click context menu.
Auto-Organize by Channel
Enable this in Settings to automatically sort transcripts into folders named after the YouTube channel.
Multi-Select
Hold Shift or Cmd to select multiple transcripts. A bulk action bar appears with "Move to Folder" and "Delete" options.
Pin to Top
Right-click a transcript and select "Pin" to keep it at the top of the list regardless of sort order. You can also toggle always-on-top for the window using the pin icon at the bottom of the sidebar.
Sidebar Controls
The bottom of the sidebar contains quick-access buttons:
- Gear icon — opens Settings.
- Pin icon — toggles always-on-top for the library window (turns orange when active).
Drag & Drop
Drag a transcript from the sidebar to Finder, a text editor, or any app that accepts text — it drops the formatted transcript content. You can also drag transcripts between folders within the sidebar to organize them.
