Transcripts
Fetching and viewing YouTube transcripts.
Fetching a Transcript
Paste any YouTube URL into the input field and press Submit. Transcribe connects to TranscriptAPI.com to fetch the transcript. Supports youtube.com/watch, youtu.be short links, youtube.com/shorts, and raw 11-character video IDs.
Display Formats
Three formats are available via Settings:
- Clean — continuous text with no timestamps, good for reading and pasting.
- Paragraphs — each segment on its own line.
- Timestamped — each segment prefixed with a
[MM:SS]timestamp; clickable timestamps open the video at that point.
Language Preferences
In Settings you can add language preferences as an ordered list of ISO language codes. Transcribe requests subtitles in your preferred language order.
Note: YouTube may prefer manual subtitles over auto-generated ones for the same language.
Batch Transcription
Paste multiple YouTube URLs (one per line) to transcribe them all at once. Each URL is processed independently. Results are saved to your history individually.
Auto-Copy
By default, transcripts are automatically copied to your clipboard when fetched. You can disable this in Settings.
If auto-paste is enabled, Transcribe will also simulate Cmd+V to paste the transcript into whatever app is focused (requires Accessibility permission).
Playlist Detection
If you paste a playlist URL, Transcribe will warn you. Playlists are not supported — paste individual video URLs instead.
